Snow Fun in Finland: An adventure for those of you who want to try a variety of new and exciting winter activities, love to be out in the nature, have a special love of Huskies but who still like to have comfortable accommodation. You will drive a snowmobile and take a two day overnight husky safari, snowshoe and ski through the silence of the winter snow.
Dates: This Snow Fun in Finland trip can start any day of the week during season (December 7th- 23rd and then January 6th- 21st April), although most choose to arrive on a Saturday. Please contact us with your preferred dates for availability at info@huskyholidays.co.uk.
Kuusamo Airport, Finland
Transfer from Kuusamo airport to the hotel, check in to your room or for a supplement a small traditional cabin with sauna, and then enjoy dinner and your first overnight.
Breakfast buffet, then prepare for your guided snowshoe tour in nature reserve. Feel the snow under your shoes and enjoy the fresh air. During the tour the guide will tell you about the Finnish forest and the tracks of animals. And soon you arrive at the fishing spot. Who will catch the first fish? A warm drink and snacks is served by an open fire. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Breakfast buffet and then transfer to the husky farm. Prepare for the overnight-safari. Each persons driving a sled with 4 to 6 huskies. During the tour, lunch will be around an open fire. In the afternoon you will arrive at the wilderness cabin.
Together with the guide, you take care of your own dogs. As a team you heat the cabin and sauna, and help with other chores. Coffee time. Then, you can enjoy the real, traditional Finnish sauna with a breath taking swim in the ice hole. Dinner. Rustic cabin with no electricity or running water. Outdoor toilet. Cabin is warm even in the coldest winter nights. Everyone sleeps in the one room, you will be warm and toasty.
After breakfast, helping with the chores and caring for dogs, you will pack and get the dogs ready to continue the tour. Lunch will be around an open fire again. During the afternoon you arrive back at the farm. After caring for the dogs, you say ‘goodbye’ to them. Coffee time on the farm. Transfer back to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast dressing and preparing for the snowmobile safari. The guide introduces driving techniques before starting 40-60km long tour through forests, frozen lakes and swamps. You might meet reindeer on the way and see traces of snow hares, moose and birds… On the way lunch is served around an open fire. Duration about 4– 5 hours, two persons per snowmobile. On request, single snowmobile is possible at extra cost of £65 per person. Client’s responsibility in the case of damaging snowmobile is €800 maximum. Dinner at the hotel.
