Transfer to base (about 1 hour), at the gates of the park. Settle down in your lakeside log cottage or in your hotel room. The guides meet you at the restaurant with a welcoming dinner and provide you with details of the safari. Accommodation: cottage or hotel.
Your first encounter with your huskies, everyone has a team of 4 to 5 dogs for adults or 2 to 3 dogs for children. We then leave for about a short 25km tour. In order to practice the activity gradually, some races on lakes will give you more and more confidence with your team of huskies. The trail then becomes more forested and sometimes more technical before finally returning back to the hotel. 4 to 5 hours – Overnight in cottage or hotel.
The safari begins! Heading south, the dogs run through the taiga. We cross alternatively lakes, bogs (frozen!) and through coniferous forest. Today we drive along the Russian border to arrive at our first camp. There, after taking care of our dogs, we will enjoy our first dinner over a wood fire. Time: 4 to 5 hours – Accommodation: cabin.
This time we head north and leave our Russian friends. We pass through various reserves where migratory birds flock the summer. We return to the park and its network of frozen lakes. There, we set up our camp and spend the night by the fire. Accommodation: cabin.
We keep going, pushing us further and further into the park. As we move away from civilization a certain complicity begins to link you with your team. Light illuminates snowy fir trees around us. We reach our bivouac, where after enjoying the warmth of the traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna, we will enjoy the freshness of the frozen lakes water. Accommodation: cabin.
Heading north! We start in the morning through dense primary forests, where we can see many traces of animals that have found refuge. Today we take a look at the canyon lake Julma Ölkky. It is surrounded by the cliffs and we will travel to its end. At the heart of this universe you live without a doubt one of the most mythical moments of this canine travel. Accommodation: cabin.
For the fifth and final day of the safari, you take a long diagonal through the park and rediscover all the landscapes that compose it. Lakes, snow-covered hills, bogs and of course the frozen expanses of virgin forest. After all that time spent at their side, you take the opportunity to spend some special moments with your faithful companions. For dinner we have a traditional Lappish meal: Käristus, or reindeer stew with cranberries. Accommodation: cottage or hotel.
Transfer to Kuusamo for your departure flight home.
